01 / The skate is chosen for a purpose

WHAT DO YOU
DO ON THE ICE?

A six-year-old learning edges, a twice-a-week house player and a college goaltender do not have the same needs. Pick a real situation. See what to measure and where spending matters.

WHAT TO PRIORITIZE

WHERE MONEY IS WASTED

ONE TEST AT THE FITTING BENCH

The program level changes workload and the questions you ask; it does not diagnose foot shape or prescribe a specific brand or price.

WHERE DOES
THE BOOT FLEX?

Try a mechanical demonstration. See an actual skate, then use the separate mechanical schematic to understand forward shin motion, the runner's contact with ice, and the difference between forward flex and sideways containment. These principles help assess fit without inventing a boot interior.

WHAT TO TEST IN A REAL SKATE

The rotation describes movement, not stiffness. Boot resistance depends on material, facing geometry, fit and individual loading. No injury-prevention or speed percentage is being claimed.

THE CREASE
IS ITS OWN WORLD.

A goalie skate should be examined alongside the pad, toe ties, post access and actual lateral pushes. Here are three different 2026 systems.

        LET'S FIND THE
        ACTUAL PROBLEM.

A fitting is an experiment: isolate heel movement, instep pressure, forefoot shape, flex, position and age. Each answer changes what to check—not the brand we're selling you.

YOUR PRIORITIES / NOT A DIAGNOSIS

Use an experienced skate fitter and verify under load; never force a painful boot.

          10 / Fit assumptions tested

          ONE BRAND.
          ONE FOOT SHAPE?

          “CCM IS ALWAYS NARROWER.”

Not necessarily. Bauer has Fit 1/2/3; CCM offers Tapered, Regular and Wide in supported lines. Heel shape, toe cap and instep volume differ by model and grade. Fit a real foot, not a brand reputation.

          “ONLY TRUE IS CUSTOM.”

TRUE SVH can be constructed around an individual scan. Bauer FitLab offers scan-based interior customization. Custom colors and tongue options do not necessarily mean a new boot last.

          “MORE MONEY MEANS MORE SPEED.”

Composite architecture, facings, foams and steel are real upgrades, but none guarantee performance for an individual skater. Match support and usable flex to body size, technique and workload.

This page uses published manufacturer product specifications and authentic retail product photography. The interaction design teaches geometry and components without claiming to expose proprietary internal laminate schedules or independently measured efficiency.

Staging images use authentic product photographs from manufacturers and specialist retailers; licensing and permanent Webflow asset hosting must be secured before production publication. No AI-manufactured skates, repeated Teddy imagery or guessed engineering cutaways.
