00 / WHY THIS EXISTS

THE STICK IS NOT
THE GRAPHIC.

It is a composite beam, a handle, a tapered load path, a blade built around a core, a dynamic system between two hands and a puck. A flex number is a starting point, not a complete description.

This guide separates what manufacturers publish, what mechanics can establish, and what must remain uncertain without laboratory measurement. No simulated shot-speed gains. No invented fiber schedules.

01 / THE LOAD LAB INTERACTIVE STUDY

DON'T READ
THE NUMBER.
WATCH THE SHAFT.

The real stick photograph stays real. The deformation changes. Move the loading controls to examine how a hypothetical beam responds to force, relative stiffness, and lever arm. This is a visual mechanics demonstration—not a measurement of Bauer's proprietary layup.

THE IMPORTANT LIMITATION: An ideal uniform cantilever obeys δ = F L³/(3EI). A hockey stick under two moving hands, a blade and a puck does not satisfy that fixture. No visual deflection here proves measured shaft EI, release velocity or any brand advantage.

THE CARBON
YOU CAN'T SEE.

Sticks are built from fibers, resin, geometry and a blade core. A manufacturer diagram can tell us what technology the brand describes. It cannot prove a specific proprietary ply schedule.

01 / BAUERNEXUS TRACER TECHNOLOGY

Manufacturer illustration of blade technology. Not an independently verified destructive cross-section or materials laboratory photograph.

THE FIBERS.

Carbon fibers carry load principally along their orientation. Different layups can trade longitudinal bending, torsion and local impact resistance. A label like 18K or UD does not independently disclose the full layup schedule.

THE

PATCH.

A toe curve, blade rocker and lie are not interchangeable descriptions. Inspect a real blade photograph at high magnification to see why contact geometry deserves its own examination.

FACE CURVATURE

Left/right deviation of the blade face; nominal retail pattern labels do not measure exact curvature.

SOLE ROCKER

Bottom-edge shape changes how much of the sole contacts the ice across blade orientation.

BLADE LIE

Nominal shaft-to-blade geometry, affected in practice by grip, stick length and posture.

04 / THE GOALIE SYSTEM

ONE SHAFT.
THREE JOBS.

Save. Seal. Pass. A goaltender's paddle, shoulder, shaft and blade are working components, not decoration. Evaluate them with the blocker, skates and pads actually on.

04A / THE GOALIE ENGINEERING FILETHE EQUIPMENT IS THE EVIDENCE

NOT A SMALL
PLAYER STICK.

A goalie stick is a different mechanical system: the paddle blocks, the shoulder transfers load, the blade seals and clears, and the shaft must move with the blocker. Each part deserves its own scrutiny.

THE SHAFT.

The blocker hand and lower-hand position act on a shaft whose geometry and taper affect how it loads. CCM publishes an ALUPLI aluminum-and-carbon shaft for this senior Tacks Pro. That does not establish its measured flexural-rigidity curve.

BAUER / VAPOR FLYLITE

MAKER'S CLAIM

Bauer describes the senior 2025 FLYLITE goalie stick with XE taper, AIRMax/QuadAIR paddle, PentaGrip shoulder and hybrid toe.

ENGINEERING IMPLICATION

Paddle and tapered-shaft geometry affect mass, grip and blade handling. Published manufacturer claims are not universal passing-performance measurements.

UNVERIFIED

There is no comparable independent longitudinal EI curve or controlled passing-speed measurement.

OFFICIAL MANUFACTURER EVIDENCE
Each photo shows the selected maker's named model and grade. Bauer, CCM and Warrior images are manufacturer hosted. The TRUE NITRO Junior photograph is currently credited to the retailer hosting it; manufacturer-hosted media remains outstanding for final production release.
04C / ON-ICE CHECK PROTOCOL

THE GOALIE
DECIDES THE FIT.

Test in full equipment. Change the movement and record what you actually observe; the checklist adjusts to the task. This doesn't generate a universal paddle-size recommendation from height or age.

MEASUREMENT CONTEXT STEP 01
WHAT TO WATCH IN THIS MOVEMENT

01 / READY STANCE

Keep the goalie naturally set in full equipment. Check sole contact, blocker-hand location, wrist alignment and whether any posture is being forced simply to keep the blade down.

0 / 4OBSERVATIONS CONFIRMED
UNTESTED

Complete each observation in full equipment. All boxes start unverified—not failed.

REPEAT IN GAME-SPEED CONDITIONS. MARKING EVERY CHECK AS CONFIRMED DOES NOT CERTIFY A STICK'S CONSTRUCTION, SAFETY OR CORRECT SIZE. IT IS A RECORD OF YOUR OWN OBSERVATIONS, NOT A LAB MEASUREMENT.
04D / GRADE EVIDENCE

YOUTH TO PRO.
NO SHORTCUTS.

Age grade is a product category, not a material specification. The exact model generation, size, hand and source must be checked independently.

CCM / OFFICIAL YOUTH CATALOGYOUTH IS A DISTINCT GRADE.

CCM's official catalog identifies Phenom Youth separately from Junior. That proves the grade exists; it does not establish the correct paddle, composition or fit for a particular child. Evaluate the exact SKU and blade-ice seal in full equipment.

PROVENANCE AUDIT / PRELIMINARYORIGIN UNVERIFIED.

A verbal story or an athlete's name printed on a shaft is not independent team-issue verification.

NEXT REQUIRED EVIDENCE

Obtain traceable acquisition records, clear product-code photos and full size, curve and condition measurements.

GRAPHICS UNKNOWNCONDITION UNKNOWN
THE AUDIT DOES NOT CERTIFY A STICK'S EXACT PROPRIETARY LAYUP, MEASURED STIFFNESS, STRUCTURAL SOUNDNESS OR WARRANTY—EVEN WHEN ITS TEAM ORIGIN IS DOCUMENTED.
07 / WHEN A STICK FAILS

WEIGHT ISN'T
STRENGTH.

Two sticks can list the same mass and feel different because their mass sits in different places. A broken shaft or blade can be repaired, but reconstructed fibers cannot simply be assumed identical to the original factory layup.

01 / BLADE HEEL

HIGH CONTACT STRESS.

Inspect for cracks, delamination and soft spots near the heel/shaft transition. Cosmetics cannot establish internal condition.

02 / LOWER SHAFT

THE TAPER MATTERS.

Section geometry and local stiffness change across the taper. A repaired section must be disclosed with its location and process.

03 / PROVENANCE

NO MAGIC WARRANTY.

A repaired or custom stick may carry different warranty terms. Separate original manufacturer coverage from any independent service warranty.
